Coupland Medical Building
The Coupland Medical Building is very important to the history of Manchester.
It was originally home to the Manchester School of Medicine and has previously been Grade II listed.
Tragically, the building has fallen into a state of disrepair having been vacant for a number of years, but was finally given the go-ahead for a full refurbishment.
Coupland was destined to become the new School of Law, School of Dentistry, Faculty of Humanities administration, Directorate for the Student Experience and their postgraduate hub.
There were numerous risks associated with the project including the obviously concerns regarding theft and vandalism to the building.
After surveying and putting forward a detailed proposal, Red CCTV were successful in being selected by the contractor to provide site security.
Our systems consisted of CCTV and a turnstile located along a metal solid heras panel fence line with an electronic access system installed to the project.
This system used the the existing building and / or scaffolding to create a virtual barrier of site perimeter protection using iLiDs (Home Office Approved) accredited video analytics.
Our city centre response team combined with the in-house University security team to manage threats and incidents.
The project completed without serious intrusion and several minor incidents which were quickly contained.
