Red CCTV has teamed up with Just Giving to raise funds for The Christie ahead of The George Charity Golf Day.
We have set up an online Just Giving Donation page to allow golfers – and supporters – to raise funds safely and securely.
Contactless payment machines will also be on hand throughout the day but the Just Giving Page allows anyone to donate, even if you can not attend via this link: The George Golf Day.
The Red CCTV Golf Day takes place at The Mere tomorrow, on Friday, October 2, with the dream of £10,000 for the NHS Christie Trust.
The George
The event is being held to commemorate the life of George William McCarthy, a close friend of Red CCTV Managing Director Rob Kennedy.
George, or Billy to his friends, tragically lost his 14-year-battle with cancer in December 2019, at the age of 50, and the overall winner will be presented with “The George” trophy, named in his honour.
Kennedy, explained; “Billy would be gutted to missing the event, he was always a keen golfer and continued to play even whilst battling cancer.
“He went through an incredible battle, never moaning or complaining, but just determined to fight for every extra second of his life with his extraordinary family.
“He received incredible support from everyone at The Christie, but in particular from the fabulous oncologist Prof Mark Saunders and his team.
“Now, we have a chance to say thank you and try to raise funds whilst having a bit of fun and remembering a truly magnificent man in my friend Billy.”
Manchester United
Twenty teams of four will line up at The Mere for the Red CCTV Golf Day to battle it out to land “The George” trophy, named in honor of Billy.
Former Manchester United legends Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin and Mickey Thomas are all lined up to play, along with former England and Sale rugby star Mark Cueto.
Business leaders from the rail, utilities, and construction sectors will be joining the golf day and hoping to raise as much money as possible for The Christie.
The Morson Group has sponsored the event, Mick George the Nearest The Pin, PP O’Connor for the straightest drive, Fastflow the longest drive and individual holes are sponsored by businesses.
Just Giving
Red CCTV would ask each player to kindly donate a minimum of £30 to play – or £120-per-team via our Just Giving Page.
Kennedy, added: “We hope everyone enters into the spirit of the event and helps us to raise as much money as possible for The Christie.
‘We start with bacon butties and coffee and then we have a wonderful putting competition and warm-up area for our golfers to prepare.
“There is a shotgun start at midday and then after the golf, we will enjoy a BBQ, prize giving and auction which, hopefully, will raise even more money than last year.
“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to our friends at The Morson Group, who are our main partner sponsor for the event, along with all of our other sponsors, without whom we would not be able to host such an event.”
Covid Safe
Red CCTV is taking every precaution to keep everyone Covid safe and have been working with the team at The Mere to enhance social distancing and reduce touchpoints.
Our very own developed Halo Shield body temperature monitoring system will be used to check golfers’ body temperature and our track-and-trace system will be utilised as an additional precaution.
We would ask that everyone attending using the Mere’s Track and Trace System to check-in upon arrival, and remain socially distance during play.
