Halo Shield Systems are protecting workers on the £100 billion HS2 project.
Europe’s largest infrastructure project finally began on Friday with the Government announcing a 22,000 job boost for Britain.
And some, already working on the project, including those at Flannery Plant Hire head office in London, are protected every day by the innovative Halo Shield System thermal body temperature measuring systems and Halo Eco CCTV Tower Systems.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson witnessed the ‘spade-in-the-ground’ launch in Solihull, as the project moved from enabling works to full construction.
He believes the long awaited project will ‘vital in boosting connectivity between our towns and cities’ and is at the ‘heart of our plans to build back better’ following the Covid-19 pandemic which has ripped through the British economy.
But, without a vaccine or an end in sight to current Covid-19 crisis, that means British businesses must learn to work around the virus.
And, Red CCTV’s Halo range of is doing just that with products that protect people, plant and property, as witnessed by the ITN News cameras on Friday at Flannery Plant Hire HQ.
Compounds
Red CCTV Managing Director Rob Kennedy, said: “It’s an exciting day for everyone involved in the rail industry and HS2 will be an incredible project and we are delighted to be involved.
“We have been working with clients during the enabling works, protecting compounds and equipment pre-Covid-19.
“And since the outbreak of the Coronavirus our Halo Shield range of products have been crucial in protecting members of staff, visitors and clients.
“We have to recognise that Covid-19 looks likely to be with us for some time. but we have proved it is still possible to work around it providing we are sensible and safe.
“We hope more clients will use our Halo Shield Systems to protect their workforce as the HS2 project develops further.”
Protection
Phase 1 of the HS2 project will connect London-to-the-West Midlands, with Phase 2 completing the link to Manchester and Leeds.
The project will see the creation of a new railway line which will sit on concrete slab, rather than traditional ballast.
It will see the creation of new rail stations, tunnels and cuttings below the ground over the 330-mile route.
Manchester based security experts Red CCTV have been working with clients on the enabling works for some time.
Their innovative range of smart eco-friendly Halo Eco-friendly CCTV Towers have been deployed to protect site compounds.
The Halo CCTV Towers are equipped with smart analytical software systems which eradicated false alarms by up to the 95%.
Solar Powered
They are modular and contained an innovative power system, which includes solar and wind turbine options.
The Halo Shield Pod system is a highly innovative body temperature monitoring system deployed in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.
They are being used to measure body temperatures of staff, visitors and suppliers – with elevated temperatures being a key symptom of Covid-19.
Kennedy, added: “Covid-19 is here to say for the foreseeable future and that means we have to learn to live with it, get used to the new norm.
“The HS2 project is scheduled to run for the next 20 years, with Phase 1 not due for competition under 2028 at the earliest and so, it is better, we consider longer term solutions.
Body Temperature
“The Halo Pod System simply monitors anyone entering site and provides an immediately body temperature measurement.
“It allows clients to create ‘safe bubbles’ knowing that anyone with Covid symptoms is denied access to those areas.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said: “HS2 is at the heart of our plans to build back better – and with construction now formally underway, it’s set to create around 22,000 new jobs.
“As the spine of our country’s transport network, the project will be vital in boosting connectivity between our towns and cities.
“But HS2’s transformational potential goes even further. By creating hundreds of apprenticeships and thousands of skilled jobs, HS2 will fire up economic growth and help to rebalance opportunity across this country for years to come.”
