England rugby legend Mark Cueto has signed up for Red CCTV’s golf day fundraiser.
The former British Lions superstar will lead a Sale Sharks team at the annual charity event at The Mere Golf and Country Club in Knutsford.
Cueto, MBE, now Commercial Director at Sale Sharks, will be determined to honour exponents of the oval-shaped ball – as he takes a team of soccer legends.
Captain Marvel Bryan Robson will lead a Manchester United legends team which includes Denis Irwin, Arthur Albiston and Mickey Thomas confirmed to play the event at The Mere in October.
Humbling
Red CCTV Managing Director Rob Kennedy, said: “We are delighted Mark can play and the team at Sale Sharks.
“It is shaping up to be a really special event and we have a fantastic group of golfers joining us for the event, which is always a lot of fun.
“It is always quite humbling that so legends like Mark, Robbo, Denis, Arthur and Mickey are prepared to give up their time so that we can raise funds for those that need it most,
“This year is a special event for me personally, as we play in the honour of my friend Billy, who lost his battle with cancer last December.
“We have 20 fantastic teams confirmed to play and I am sure we will be able to raise a lot of money in Billy’s memory and have a few laughs along the way.”
The George
George William McCarthy lost his 14-year battle with cancer at the age of 50 in December 2019. He was cared for by Professor Mark Saunders and his team at The Christie in Manchester and the day will be dedicated to his memory.
The overall winner will be presented with ‘The George’ trophy in his honour and, a charity auction will be held to raise funds for The Christie.
Kennedy, added: “We hold a golf day every year to raise funds for the Christie, they are an amazing charity who do such incredible work for so many people.
“We’d like to do more and hopefully next year we will host a charity ball after the event to try and raise even more money.
Halo Shield
“We have been kindly backed by the Morson Group and Flannery Plant Hire and we have some fabulous prizes to be won, and a BBQ planned for after the event.
“Obviously we are keeping our eye on the Covid-19 situation and working closely with the brilliant team at The Mere to ensure everyone stays safe. Fingers crossed we are set for an amazing day.”
Red CCTV will deploy their own Halo Shield body temperature measuring system to scan golfers as they arrive and deploy a QR track and trace solution to keep everyone safe.
The Halo Shield scans individuals unobtrusively as they approach and alerts to anyone who has an elevated temperature.
Health officials say high temperatures can be a symptom of Covid-19.
And the Red CCTV Halo Eco CCTV Tower System will track the golfing action at the nearest the pin challenge.
Teams attending the event include Manchester United legends, the Morson Group, Network Plus, Fastflow, Taziker, Cadent and others.
